Fire Trucks!!!

We took Ella to the Fire Station open house this weekend. Though she was timid at first, it didn't take long for her to warm up. She wanted to "drive for just a second" for a lot of seconds. She did not want to leave. At one point, she suggested we set up her pack-and-play in the fire engine so she could stay there! She loved it. Enjoy the pics.

Potty Chair

Lately, Ella has been telling us when she wants a diaper change or letting us know when she pooped. So we went to Toys R Us and let her pick out her very own potty chair. Potty chairs these days come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, one that sing, and ones that make noises, extra. Ella picked that one that has a flusher, sings songs and has a holder for her very own toilet paper roll. When we opened up the box on Sunday she was so excited to try it out. At first she sat on it with just her clothes on and then she wanted everything off. I got her some juice and Jake began to read some new books I ordered from the Library. Of course they were all about going potty. She probably sat there 15-20 min and then the potty chair started SINGING!! She went potty!!! Yeah we danced and jumped up and down for her. Then she wanted to sit again and sure enough she went again!! By the third try of sitting on her potty chair she wanted some big girl underwear on. I put them on hoping she would stay dry for a bit this time but no such luck. About 5 min later she had wet her pants. Then I had a mess to clean up, not so much fun. Yesterday, she asked for potty time again but had no success and a couple of accidents. Today, she wanted potty time but nothing came out.
We are not ready to start really potty training her until we both can stay home for an entire weekend and concentrate on it but for now its fun getting her excited about being a big girl and using the potty!
The pictures below are flip flopped.

Cannon Beach Weekend

Last weekend we spent at Cannon Beach, OR. We checked into our 1 bedroom Luxury Suite just in time to grab some dinner and take a stroll on the beach to watch the sunset. It was beautiful. At first Ella was slightly caution about walking on the sand but after seeing us with our shoes off she soon wanted hers off too. After that there was no stopping her. Saturday morning started off in the pool. Ella is quite a little fish and has no fear of water. Bridgette also loved kicking her legs. After swimming we walked about 2 miles to the downtown which was filled with tons of cute shops. On the walk home, both girls took naps which continued once we got back to the hotel. Then off to a terrific dinner with waterfront views. Bridgette slept most of dinner and Ella was on her best behavior and had a big appetite. She ate everything that was put in front of her. It was amazing. After dinner we took another breathtaking sunset. It was a perfect way to end the evening. Sunday morning we went swimming again and then packed up for home. We all had so much fun that we are already looking forward to planning another trip next summer. As Ella would say, " We go back to the beach next week."

Bridgette is zonked out after a full day of walking the beach and shopping in town.

Daddy and his girls.

Ella loved having the freedom of running on the beach.
Playing in the sand.

Yes, I'm on the phone wishing my mom a Happy Birthday!

Last few weeks of summer

The last few weeks of our so called "summer" has just flown by. Both girls are growing like flowers. I didn't have the heart to call them "weeds." Anyway, Ella is a talking machine, she is into using her pronouns and stringing lots of phases together. Lately, she hasn't been taking naps but instead will pull books off her bookshelf and read to all her friends in her bed until I go get her.
Bridgette, is cooing and smiling a ton. She is into grabbing things and pulling them to her mouth. She is a great sleeper at night and takes a few 40min-1hr naps during the day.
Jake has been home a lot more so life is going great. We are headed to Cannon Beach this coming weekend so that should be fun!

Ella got her first pair of bunny boots. Thanks Nana!

Thanks to Uncle Paul and Auntie Lindsey Ella now has her own laptop. Here she is checking her email.
