Our trip to Nana and Papa's

Ella made her first trip to Spokane this past week. We drove over with my friend Jennifer and her little boy Jackson. Ella was quite the trooper. We only had to stop once for lunch driving over to Spokane and coming home to Olympia.

Ella and I had a great time at Nana and Papa's. During the day my parents had to work so me and Ella hung out with a friend and went to some new mom's groups. One of the groups we went to was the hospital where they had free weight checks for babies. The night before we weighed her we all had bets that she weighted between 11- 11.5 lbs. Boy were we off, she weighted in at 11lb. - 14oz. almost 12lbs!! Holy cow!
Ella also got to meet her great-grandparents for the first time. She really enjoyed meeting them, don't mind the poutie face in the last picture.

Growing up Fast

Ella is getting bigger by the day. I feel like every time she wakes up from a nap she looks older. Today I packed up all of Ella's newborn clothes because they were getting a little tight, it's time to bring out her fall collection of clothes. As you can see she is sporting a new outfit and looking mighty cute. Ella also has graduated to a new diaper size, daddy is very proud.
Another big milestone as of this week is that she is sleeping 5-6 hrs a stretch at night time. Which means I get more sleep!!! Yippee

First Road Trip

Ella took her first road trip to the Oregon Coast this weekend. Jake had to do some emergency railroad bridge inspection and since it was the weekend family could come along. Ella did great with the 5hr car ride. We only had to stop a couple times to feed or change a dirty diaper. It was nice to get out of the house for awhile. I was thinking that the weather would be warmer than it was so our walk on the beach was cut short due do the wind factor.
Next week Ella goes to Nana and Papa's to visit. Wish us luck!

Ella's First BIG GIRL BATH!

Ella had her first bath today and she loved it! She didn't make a peep the whole time. She was really intrigued by the faucet the entire time and wouldn't take her eyes off it. Maybe she'll grow up to be a plumber some day. After bath time we did some infant massage and some soothing music and she went right to sleep!

Grandma & Grandpa M Visit

Grandma & Grandpa Menard came to see Ella for the very first time this weekend. It was a great weekend full of laughs, good food, libations and a little adventure. Grandma and Grandpa taught us a few tricks from their 33+ years of parenting experience. Grandma also taught us infant massage, which Erin and Ella really enjoy. We'll definitely put that to good use.

Ella's Big Day

My goal yesterday was to have Ella learn how to take a pacifier. We have made several small attempts but usually just give up and walk her around until she falls asleep. So yesterday we think we made some progress. She will start out taking it but then spit it out when she is just on the verge of falling asleep.

Our other big milestone was that we tried to give Ella a bottle last night. She took right to it, me on the other hand was in tears because I almost felt un-needed. But once I left the room and was able to get ready for bed in some peace and quite I liked the idea of Jake being able to help with a night feeding.
