The countdown is on!

Well, the countdown is officially on. Yesterday, Jake and I went to see our doctor and he said I have begun to dilate 1cm and I am 60% effaced meaning my cervix is continuing to get thinner. Since, I know my parents are driving over this Thurs. even if the baby has not showed signs of arriving, I asked my doctor if he could strip my membranes so that I would go into labor around the time my parents plan on coming over. He said sure, so yesterday he supposedly stripped some of my membranes, it was very uncomfortable. But I have not felt anything different. We do have another appoint. on Wed. first thing in the morning where he will strip them again. For those who don't know, stripping of the membranes allows the whole labor process to begin.
Speaking of labor, last Wed. night Jake and I had a false alarm. I was having a series of contractions lasting 4-6min. apart but once I got up to help make dinner they dissipated.
Jake called it our little fire drill. So now we are ready for the real thing. We'll, be sending out text messages right after the baby is born and then pictures will be posted here as soon as we can.

Baby Shower #3

Thanks to my very creative sister-in-law Renee, I was able to have another great baby shower. However, this baby shower was different. Since, Jake and I live so far away from most of our relatives Renee came up with an idea to have an E- shower. Most of the invitations were sent out online and requested the guests to respond back with parenting advice for me and Jake. Once Renee collected all the pieces of advice she then put them into a scrapbook with pictures of Jake and I when we were little, our niece and nephews, and our second cousins. Renee asked us to wait to open any gifts that arrived before hers so today was the big day her package finally arrived. The instructions said to read one page at a time and after reading that page you could open the persons gift that cooresponded. Jake and I had such a great reading through all the advice that everyone sent in. I think I cried throught most of it, the whole thing was just really thoughtful. And of course we took lots of pictures for everyone to enjoy. Yes, what you see on my shirt are tears!!

Thanks again for all the great gifts!!

38 week profile

This morning I had a 38 week check-up to see if there was any action. The doctor said that my cervix is still thinning out and is soft but no dilation. Baby Menard's Heartbeat was 150 and my blood pressure is still perfect. Lately, I have been having a lot of round ligament pain on my sides and some pressure/ pain down in my pelvic area. I think the thing that bothers me the most is the fact that I am having some arthritis/ carpel tunnel symptoms with my hands. In the middle of the night I can hardly move them b/c my joints hurt so badly. Then at the end of the day I can barely pick up a dinner plate with one hand. Supposedly this can be a normal symptom of pregnancy and will go away after the baby is born. As for my ankles, they get a tiny bit swollen at the end of a work day but they return to normal by the morning. My last day of work is going to be Thurs. the 24Th. That gives me a week to relax and maybe get one more pedicure.
Tomorrow, Jake and I plan on making one last trip to Babies R Us just for some last minute items. Then I think we will be ready!!

Work Baby Shower

Sorry, I am a little behind with updating our blog!!

Last Friday afternoon the ladies from work threw me a baby shower. We had a wonderful time. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were able to eat and open gifts outside. I received many cute gifts and got to take home the leftover cake. Ohh it was declicious!! Here are a couple pictures:

After my shower, Jake and I had a meet and greet with a potential new pediatrician. We were happy with the office and the doctor but the best part is that her office is close to our house.
